A lot of the old assets are not working anymore in this blog. What I had intended for this blog to be, a very well-organized notebook for the latest version of Virtua Fighter will now be transferred over to a private discord. I might use this blog instead for a variety of VF articles.

[General] Back Crouch Dash

Requires a minimum of 6 frames to avoid high throws.  Recovers crouching.

Version: VF5FS Version A.1

[General] Jump

Can jump straight up, backward, or forward.  Recovers crouching.

A jump takes 6 frames to consider in mid-air (to avoid low strikes).

[General] Run

Can only run from a distance.

[General] Back Dash

Back Dash can be canceled into an Evade.

[General] Forward Dash

Can cancel an evade with forward dash.

[General] Walk

Can move in 8 different directions.

[General] Crouching Guard

Crouching Guard is a defensive action that all characters have in their default stances.

Rule: Crouching Guard successfully blocks and prevent damage against Low Strikes.

Guideline:  Against Mid Strikes, Crouching Guard fails to block and prevent damage.  Exceptions to the Guideline: Against Special Mid Strikes, Crouching Guard prevents damage, but the Guard is removed and the character is forced to stand.

Player that chose to use crouching guard against low strikes will recover with frame advantage (link).

[General] Standing Guard

Standing Guard is a defensive action that all characters have in their default stances.

Guideline: Standing Guard successfully blocks and prevent damage from High Strikes and Mid Strikes.  Exceptions to the Guideline: There are some High and Mid Strikes that cannot be successfully blocked and will deal damage (link, or put under this section).  Some High and Mid Strikes will remove Standing Guard, but deals no damage.  In addition, some of them cause the character in the standing guard position to Stagger.

Guideline:  Against Low Strikes, Standing Guard fails to block and prevent damage.  Exceptions to the Guideline: Standing Guard successfully blocks and prevent damage against Special Low Strikes.

In relationship to High Strikes and Mid Strikes
Usually, the player that chose to use standing guard against high strikes and mid strikes will recover with frame advantage (link).
